Camping hikes near Gauteng

I’m looking for a cheap safe weekend hike near Jhb/PTA region with camping spots for tents.

My favorite is Tonquani/Cederberg Kloofs. You can overnight there at one of three wilderness camps. You will need to contact the MCSA and get permits, maps etc through them.

If you speak to the owner over at Kranskloof he also lets you camp on his land, it’s not as much of an adventure as the former but cheaper and easier logistically.

Thank you Colan. I have been to Tonquani with some MCSE members last month. It is a really good option. However i feel like not going with MCSE members is a good recipe to get lost or injured.
