I found it ironically apt when ‘‘Cape Nature Conservation’“ rebranded to '‘Cape Nature” (dropping their core function from the name).
But from what happened over Easter weekend 2026, it seems that CN have now completely lost the plot.
I am not sure how to classify the incident. Theft, reckless endangermentof human life, draconian over reach or incompetence?? And it occurred on private property!
It is however clear to me that the offical(s) involved do not understand that public land designated as nature conservation areas belong to all South African citizens. Cape Nature are only the custodians mandated to manage these areas on behalf of the public in the Western Cape..
