We (6 ladies from Namibia) are planning the 5 day hike in the Central Cederberg in the 2nd half of September this year. Just wondering what the network coverage is on the trail? When we hike in the remote areas of Namibia (FRC and Naukluft etc.) we take along a Spot Gen4 satellite communication device and it already saved us when one of our party got into serious trouble. There is occasional coverage in the area but nothing consistent. If you would like a sense of it I would get ahold of a Slingsby Hike the Cederberg map which does highlight some cellphone coverage (Red dots on the map if I remember). If you already have a spot device I would say it can’t hurt at all. Though with most of the cederberg wilderness reserve I would say you are not often more than a days hike from a road/station.
