I am Martin from Germany, 45y old. I would like to do the Drakensberg Traverse in November 2025. For safety I would prefer not doing it completely alone. No tent sharing.

I consider myself physically fit therefore I aim for distances of 20km - 30km a day. Also a bit more is possible for me

Hello Martin,
Doing something like this is quite a big commitment. And many, many, people underestimate the GT. No one keeps record of the failure rate, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s close to 70%.
Could you give some more information on your previous hiking experience, that might help convince someone.

I have hiked Torres Del Paine O Trek in 7 days, Huayhuash 8 days, Anapurna Circuit incl. Ghorepani and Poon Hill in 11 days, Everest Base Camp from Lukkla (direct trails) and back in 7 days.

I love your credentials, especially Everest basekamp, also on my bucket list.
I don’t think the National Parks allow party of one on that hike. Have you contacted National parks board of SA? If you contact them, they might have a booking where there is not a full group and you can join in on them, just a suggestion. I done it a few times, you meet new contacts.
