My mates and I will be hiking the GT this April - we wanted to find out what the signal is like up on the mountains? We heard that MTN is quite good up there, but we wanted to confirm.

Expect to have signal when you are on the escarpment edge for a lot of the northern and central section. You probably won’t have much signal between Giants and Sani, though. Also remember that you won’t be on the escarpment edge for a lot of the hike, so don’t promise anyone a daily update as you probably won’t be able to do that.
My 4th GT included a 14 year old - and I made it very clear to his parents that there was no guarantee that I’d be able to send any status updates at any point during the two weeks. I think I managed to send them 3 messages over the entire duration of the hike.
