I was wondering if someone has done this route. I will be in the Cape in Jan next year and have been wanting to do this for a while. I contacted the MCSA, but had had no replies from them.
Any help on maps, routes, parking areas etc. would be much appreciated.
Not much detail re exact route but here’s a nice route overview.
There is also parking much closer at some or another lodge; to my knowledge you just drive in past the MCSA hut and keep going up the hill across the ridge; the parking area will be apparent; unfortunately word is they charge quite a bit - I don’t have the exact details though.
Hi MarcoD, hope you are well. Were you able to complete the Dutoits Peak trail without joining MCSA? I am interested in doing the trail but cannot find any information on gaining access without joining their club.
I’ve been trying the same recently. What I’m trying to do is contact the Fizantkraal trout farm as according to Google Earth and AllTrails some people follow a route from there but I cant seem to find a direct contact to them either.
Thank goodness I thought I was alone on this hill I’ve also tried looking for information on the trout farm this was a response I received previously from the perfect hideaways team:
Hi Tashrieq
I reached out to the owner of Fizantakraal, he writes:
We don’t give members of the public hiking permission across our property. If they are members of the Mountain Club there are agreed routes across our property, but they need to be card-carrying members of the Mountain Club.
If no response is recieved on the thread I’ll most likely drive up to the area and see if there is a publicly accessible route. Will update the thread if nothing comes before then.
