I have 1KD engine feet for resistance

Hello Guys,

I’ve been doing quite a bit of hiking lately around my local trails, and somewhere along the way I started comparing myself to my old Toyota Hilux 1KD-FTV 3.0 D-4D engine.

Sounds a bit strange, but hear me out.

The 1KD is known for being that dependable workhorse not the fastest, not the newest, but it just keeps going. Strong low-end torque, built for load, and it doesn’t complain much even when things get tough. That’s kind of how I’ve been feeling on the trails.

I’m not the fastest hiker on the mountain. I’m definitely not the most athletic guy out there. But like the 1KD, I just try to keep a steady pace, focus on endurance, and keep moving forward even when the incline gets rough or the path gets long.

There are moments on steep climbs where I feel like I’m “lugging a heavy load uphill,” but that’s also where the consistency matters most just like a diesel engine pulling through torque instead of speed.

I guess what I’ve realised is that hiking isn’t about being a high-revving performance machine. It’s more about being reliable, steady, and finishing the journey without overheating.

Anyway, just a random thought from the trail today. Curious if anyone else ever relates machines or engines to their hiking style or personality.

this is so oddly specific lol

but i understand

sometimes when I’m trying to hike uphill I think i need to change to a lower gear and accelerate though
