I been on the Keen footwear website and read a few comments but the one thing that really shocked me was that Keen doesn’t export shoes directly to South Africa. That means that all the shoes that is in South Africa under the name Keen are fake. That is a bold statement to make. Also they sed “ if it is not made in USA, it is not Keen”
Now I was shocked, cause I know CUM keep Keen shoes, so just for the test I checked and the shoes that I picked up said “ made in Indonesia”
Please correct me if I am wrong?
A quick google will tell you that most of their shoes are made in Asia.

I took your advice and Googled it, Google threw me out to Facebook page called Hikers- South Africa where Ernst Kapp mentioned this exact topic. It looks like they had this conversation on February 8,24.
Ernst Kapp confirmed the suspicions that SA Keen is fake but also mentioned that they also do the job.
It seems that the author of the page, Carl Schutte mentioned a webpage called www.keenbootssouthafrica.com is also a scam website and you buy shoes to find out they will never arrive.
This whole thing doesn’t sound right.
Ok, well google first ranked pages will take you to Keen’s website which shows that they don’t only make in the USA. If i recall only 6% of their shoes are made in the US.
Yes, www.keenbootssouthafrica.com is very much a fake website. Pretty much every shoe brand in SA has a fake version trying to impersonate them.
CUM is a stand up business, highly unlikely that they would sell fakes. Its not a China Mall.
Ye, I’m with you on that. I have been buying from CUM for years. I love a good Merrol boot, tried and tested, still the best.
I think for now, I’ll steer clear from Keen. To much funny stuff with them.
I can tell you this much, I tried Wolverine boots for hiking and it really surprised me. They are very light, strong as rock and do not boil your feet.
I think most hikers can tell what shoes are the best.
