Multi day hikes near Johannesburg

Hi

Does anyone know of any multi day hikes in and around Johannesburg/Gauteng?

The Suikerbosrand Reserve offers some multi-day hikes; I don’t know of anything else in Gauteng.
Footprint Hiking Club has some info on Suikerbosrand: http://footprint.co.za/
And some more here: Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve Day And Overnight Hiking Trails

Thank you , will look into suikerbosrand !

@notdanielbutdaniel I reckon you might have greater joy heading north to Limpopo and doing the Magoebas. It’s but 3.5hrs drive. Gauteng’s a bit flat. Komati Tourism (magoebas) also host a few other options. Otherwise head over to Mamparralanga, there are a few options there too…so, yup, I’m sorry, it’s not G’teng as you asked but I think the pickings are better.

Hello Dan,

Did one in Gauteng (if I remember correctly) called Tonquani Kloof Hike (closer to Magaliesburg though). If memory serves it falls under Mountain Club of SA, so you need to get a permit from them.

Hope this info helps?

Tonquani is in North West no? But all within an hour or two from JHB/PTA complex. There are a few amazing Magaliesberg options but access is mostly via the MCSA.
Agree with Carl that Limpopo and Mpumalanga offers the best multi-day hikes though.
