Can anybody offer some advise for any trails open in Gauteng I believe that “parks trails” are still closed.
Hey @Gecko89. Many private trails are open - for example Hennops, Northern Farms, Thaba Trails, Wolwespruit, Shelter Rock, Modderfontein, possibly Van Gaalens. Would be worth contacting Ezemvelo Nature Reserve, Klipkraal Trails and Suikerbosrand to enquire if they are open.
The Wilds, Klipriviersberg, Johannesburg Botanical Gardens and Kloofendal NR will reopen on the 1st of August.

In Pretoria: Hedianga Farm is open, and so is Faerie Glen Nature Reserve and Moreleta Kloof Nature Reserve (although their hours have changed to 7am - 5pm).

We went hiking a week ago at Rustig. It’s just across the provincial border (near Van Gaalens). We were stopped by a traffic officer, but he wasn’t interested in a permit - he just checked licenses.

There are a variety of trails to choose from and you can braai (or buy a boerie) afterwards at the main building. The views from the top of the Magaliesberg is quite spectacular. Make sure you take enough water, as there are no waterpoints.
